Architect
André Thomas Balla
Born in France, he trained at the Versailles School of Architecture. After working in Paris with Fuksas Architectures and Atelier M. Labbe, he opened his studio in Catania with Simona Calvagna. Winner of the 2002 Prix Camelot, he designs residential and commercial spaces. His teaching includes Interior Architecture at Abadir Academy, beginning in 2017.
Born in Paternò in 1947, he graduated from Catania’s State Institute of Art and studied set design in Rome. In 1978 he founded Studio Calvagna, a workshop for art, environment, image and living. His work spans residential and commercial interiors, design and exhibitions, alongside art and design events created with Carmen Di Benedetto.
Simona Calvagna, a building engineer and educator, works alongside André Thomas Balla on the relationship between architecture and landscape. Collaborations are credited on individual project pages.
